Snårigheten att förhålla sig till
In the fall of 2019, we traveled to French Guiana, an overseas department of France in South America and the EU’s western frontier. The artist residency, which gradually transformed into a kind of nomadic experience as we journeyed independently, offered us a reversed perspective on the world we inhabit. Immersed in a new country—both familiar and foreign at once—we struggled to find our place, much like a misplaced Coca-Cola label in the heart of the rainforest.
The core material for this book was gathered during our time in French Guiana and later refined and expanded during the pandemic years in Finland. Our work is rooted in interdisciplinary documentation of our environment, allowing this book to be read as a visual poetry collection, a travelogue, an exhibition catalog, or something in between.
The book was published to coincide with our debut solo exhibition, Throbserving, at Gallery 3H+K in Pori in the fall of 2024.
